went to Cuba about 12-15 years ago. He sailed there from the Bahamas, knew a bit of spanish but not much. He is an ex FBI agent/federal employee and when I asked him if he had any issues when he came back to the states, he shrugged and said no big deal.

I think that given where relations have thawed a lot that you will be welcomed warmly.
