Photo/Video Day! an invetation

I admit it!

This user started thread, every Wednesday, has always been my favorite of ALL boards any place on the web!

I am a still-camera and video geek. What I love as much as looking at old photos and watching the videos we have taken in the past, is watching other peoples videos of sailing. The old videos we have taken flood my mind with past adventures. They bring back memories so much clearer than just my old brain. Other peoples video/photos entice us to look to other horizons.

But now, in this new age of technology, I see virtual reality as a fast approaching way to almost live in videos of other places. I have played with a couple of low cost toys and am loving it.

Soooooooooo, in that vane, I (and Jill) have opened a new YouTube channel, in addition to our current one. The new channel will only have virtual reality videos of our adventures, ashore and aboard Guenevere.

On this channel, you can watch our videos and YOU select what the camera is looking at! We might be busy on what is in front of us so we don't hit something, but you can look behind us, or around us! We have already posted some of our adventures. We expect the videos to get better as time goes on, we get feedback from viewers, and I learn more about how to handle it all.

If you would like to take a test drive stop by the site at
http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMq93S6MbU_Z7c_215V1riQ

we invite you to become a virtual crew member by “subscribing” to the channel.

In the intro video on the page (not in VR) I show it working from my Windows 8.1 laptop using Firefox. And Jill's android tablet.

A message from Youtube says, “To watch 360 degree videos, you'll need the latest version of Chrome, Opera or Firefox on your computer. On mobile, use the latest version of the YouTube app for Android or iOS.” I expect more/better viewers will start working with this type of video very soon.
