I chartered a 1995 Sabre 362 from Johanson in Rockland. It was the first boat I ever chartered, so I have nothing to compare it to. The boat was older and well used. A beautiful flag blue hull and varnished toe rail. The sails were relatively new. Very spacious below. No major problems, just several minor irritants. Besides dirty bilges, dirty engine and other dirty mechanical components, there were two locker doors that opened every time we heeled under sail, and a few other minor issues. The engine started easily and ran fine. I guess all this is very typical for charter boats. We did not need any emergency services from Johanson, so I cannot comment on that aspect. I take very good care of my own boat, so my comments are perhaps overly critical for a charter boat. I very much liked how the boat sailed; very responsive with a good turn of speed. Well balanced. My own boat is much heavier, so this boat was more fun to sail. (Also more challenging with its wing keel, exposed prop and and spade rudder, in the fog amidst minefields of lobster floats with toggles.)
