After many years of buying older boats...
In Response To: A learning experience ()

I can honestly say that I consider anything that works properly to be a plus. I've had everything from rotten bulkheads covered with new teak trim to conceal the fact, dead end, uncapped 110V wires, as well as many 12V "ghost" wires. I take it for granted almost everything will be wired wrong and even the things that work are not properly wired when it comes to sizing of wires, fuses, etc. I just bear all those "expectations" in mind when I make an offer. After 21 used boats over 35' in the past 50 years I find these things to be "truths" and not exceptions. Check out the photo of the cleaned out rot I found under a "new" piece of teak trim on my aft bulkhead.
