I think it's great a guy can work hard and be so enormously successful that at 87, he can design his own sailboat. Despite his success his ego isn't so big that he knows, he doesn't know jack about how to design a good sailboat - and defers to someone like Frer's that can make it 'work'.
Personally, I like this boat for what and why it was designed(the wheel looks over-arted). I don't feel that way about many new boats(probably because they have to cater to a broad market). foggy is bizarre in the context of 99% of boat design but still appealing to my eye. I'd love to see it sailing!
I like Ghery's building design. It has a lot of the 'wow factor' this boat has. While Gehry is at the top of his field, I'm not so sure about the 'worlds greatest architect' remark. Tomorrow I'll walk into the Pantheon in Rome. Now 19 centuries old(!), standing under the powerful open dome, the buildings design will take my breath away, just as it did the first time I visited.
I can't think of any boat(or many modern buildings)design with that legacy.
