I'm sure it would be better with a gimbal mount but that would be a bit more challenging to implement. I can't get the audio to work on the camera I used for that race but I just bought a new one. The audio works OK on this new camera but is a bit muted through the water proof case which, as you can see from that last video, is definitely required.
While I was writing I took a quick look for camera gimbal mounts and stumbled across this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvEBOGcTYak . If I can get my hands on a gyro bowl I'm going to see if I can make a rail mount for it and see if it works.
