Steve, this is Annie. Yes, we both have HAM licenses. However, we access both marine SSB nets and HAM nets through our SSB radio. Our weather info off the internet is provided by Sailmail, which is an organized network of international volunteer-run stations providing their services. A HAM license is not required to join Sailmail. There is an annual membership cost of $250, I believe. We get almost all of our weather info off the internet using the Sailmail system, our SSB and a pactor modem. For more information, here's a link: www.sailmail.com.
