Sounds like more Hinckley power boats(?). Production fiberglass sailboats are on the ropes!
In Response To: Here is the BDN story ()

There aren't many (any?) interesting fiberglass sailboats now in production in the US. Maybe we're the future here on the NE coast. The tooling and production of fiberglass sailboat hulls, is done...

And maybe in the higher end powerboat world - that we make money on here in Maine - isn't far behind?

Face it: the demand for high end sailboats competes with the existing hulls that won't quit. Aren't these molded swimming pool,...er powerboat hulls going to run the same route? What's the difference between a 50' 2016 Hinckley picnic boat, and a 50' 2010 picnic boat? Some fresh wood and new gizmos. The hull is just as strong. Save a mil, get one just as pretty.

Who's next, Benehuntalini's? Those hulls haven't reached a mid point in their life span.

Who would buy stock in a fiberglass production boat builder?

I wonder if the 60's marvel, the fiberglass production hull for the 'common man' - a mold production process - has run it's course? Why buy an idea, that is a mold for the masses?

The future of new big boats, may be one offs? The future, could be,... wood.
