Coming back from Hawaii in 1980 we used a taffrail log but the doggone thing's cable was wound up a bit. Using the ever faithful chip log we ascertained about a 23% error in the log. When we got home we figured it again and were almost nuts on the money for error.

Gives you something to do on those dog days in the high poking along at a knot or two.
