This weekend while Annie and I were cooling our heels at the marina in Ixtapa another cruising couple on a trawler had a powerboat with a parachute rider towing behind get tangled up in their topsides. The tourist was hospitalized and our friends had 3 antennas broken. The boats that tow tourists here through the busy harbor only have the driver, no spotter. Another cruiser doing some research found that of the last 4 deaths from parasailing like that in Mexico 2 were in Zihuatanejo. Folks worry about gun violence and storms at sea about our adventure, but bad sidewalks and poorly operated power boats is what gets my attention.
