Building a cockpit tedious.

I'm glad I'm not working on this cockpit full time(I'm also tearing out the plaster and lath in a room in our house), I'd be pulling my hair out! I'm used to seeing things happen fast, like all the walls of a house raised in a day. For instance, here are the door trim pieces all fitted and ready to epoxy. To remove - spread epoxy - clamp with screws, clean up, took 3 hours! That task complete,...wait 24 hours for epoxy to dry,...

But this is nearly ready to start filling in the 'field' with 1/2" x 1 1/2" decking strips.

The hinges have been a project onto themselves. With a 3/4" ply sub deck and 1/2" decking above, I ended up with 3" x 3" SS butt hinges. They were perfect for sending screws into the plywood edge. Careful pilot hole sizes and what has been very sound marine plywood has made a good connection. But I wanted more with the 1/2" decking, so I've drilled extra holes for a pair of screws in each leaf to go into the decking and margin pieces.

If a lid drops on your fingers, you're headed to the hospital(already heavy and I haven't added the decking @ 3+lbs/ sq.ft). The lids are supported all around which will make the whole level stiff.
