My weekend project was building furniture for my youngest daughter's room. There is a peaked ceiling by the window which we decided would be nice for a small loft. In order to get up there I figured she needed stairs and if I was going to build stairs I figured why not build a loft bed while I'm at it. And the loft over the window needs supports which turned into book shelves. I've been planning for quite a while but finally decided I needed professional help (in more ways than one). My boat neighbour and racing crew mate builds custom furniture and kitchens (among other things) for a living so I asked him if he was available for a small job. He suggested we barter for time since he needs some design work for some boat parts. This weekend we went from this:

To this:

I still need to build the loft by the window and stain the wood but we managed to get most of it built.

This is a preliminary design for an engine instrument pod that will fasten to the binnacle on Dan's boat. He brought over the instruments for me to measure so I have some tweaks to make before we cut metal.
