For 3D modeling at home I've been using Onshape recently. It's a free, cloud based, full feature 3D CAD. It's limited in storage space until you pay for a pro license but other than that all features are available. I was using DesignSpark Mechanical but it is limited in features and assembly is not very strong, although I like the direct modeling idea for quickly designing things like a room layout.
