A bit here a bit there, so you realize it is real money. The part I find most irritating, is that you can't easily turn it off if you want to simply put it on pause for a bit.

Yeah, I dealt with that with certain large CAD software vendors for years... and the sad thing is that the incremental updates usually weren't worth it.
