I have checked for voltage with every item on the binnacle, not many just chart plotter and forward sonar, and no trace voltage found. My aluminum Edson binnacle is showing alarming pox and it is only 3 years old. I have a new pedestal but before installing I am thinking seriously about putting a non conductive link in the SS steering cables to break the path between the aluminum pedestal and the bronze rudder shaft in sea water. What would you use, remember I am in Mexico without access to Grainger or Defender.
