Good tool for boats: Fein multi tool.

I don't use this much in my regular work. But on the boat, it's becoming more useful all the time. I used a Makita reciprocating saw - an aggressive work horse - while removing the old cockpit. The Fein tool was used concurrently, easily sawing the bond of wood adhesive and sealants and cutting through fasteners. It's easier to control and do less damage than the reciprocating saw. I didn't knick one wire in the process(that I know of yet,...) or damage any adjacent wood with the Fein(tough NOT to do with a sawzall).

With a carbide scraper blade and the dust extractor attachment, it removed old lifted fiberglass and quickly cleaned surfaces for new glass and epoxy. All while containing the nasty fiberglass dust and stuffing it in the vacuum.

I'll be using it a lot when I wood the coamings and cabin back in the sanding. The 5" sanding pad is quite nice for keeping things flat in areas my 6" RO sander won't reach. And the smaller detail pad will make some of the tough corners easier. All while containing the dust better than any other dustless sander I've used. A time saver(my favorite tool attribute).

Plus if you use it carefully and with some practice, you can make very accurate cuts - even plunge cuts - with the wood blades for running wires, hoses and linkages. I'll be needing it for that.
