i bought it tool only and added the dust extractor.

(my supplier only had the tool) The extractor looked a little flimsy, but so far, it's strong enough. There is a good seal on the pad vents with a felt washer(which seems to last).

I think the kit had the extractor plus a zillion pads of sand paper. All of which doubled the price. The velcro pads can wear out pretty quickly. I've abused my way through several, so far.

I'm a little unhappy with a Fein shop vac. I bought the Turbo 2 (I think), just as they transitioned to the next model. The switch failed in a year or so and my supplier cleaned it and it worked for another year or so. Now it has quit again and no cleaning will revive it. It still works when switched on via sanders.

You could just install a new switch ( a little tricky with how it is wired), but they don't sell just the switch. You need to buy the whole switch assembly for a 130 bucks or so. Which makes you wonder if you should just buy the new vac,... The Fein stuff seems well made, this experience aside.

The last sanding vac I had was a Porter Cable. It was all broken up from abuse, but still working after twice as many years of abuse.
