My understanding was that customers buying new H27-3's were asking for in-mast furling so in order to make an $85,000 27 foot sailboat more attractive to buyers they instructed Seldon to build a mast that furls to fit the boat. There are currently four of these boats within 500 yards of our slip and all have a furling main. Two have been for sale for 5 years and are way over priced, but are also poster children for how NOT to prepare your boat to sell(dirty and full of crap). One of those had a potential buyer on board for a test sail last fall but they couldn't get the main sail to behave (so the broker tells me). His rigger pointed out the bend in the mast, tweaked the turnbuckles to get that bend out and the furling worked. That boat is still for sale by the way.
I would guess that your review was back when Hunter was advertising in all the magazines like it was free.
