"we could never afford all of what we have anyplace else, especially San Diego..."
In Response To: Answers ()

That too was the decision we made last year, when I got tired of the rat race of the ever shifting high tech world, and acknowledged that maybe and only maybe we might be able to pay off our mortgage about the time I was 80, but only if I could continue to work that "rat race."

We sold our SoCal place, and managed to purchase more land, more view, and more at-hand destinations, and NO mortgage, by moving to a place of less than ideal weather, but incredible beauty, none the less.

Moving to the PNW, we now face real weather... not the constant "sunny and 72 of San Diego." But we also now have a paid off home and time to do the things we want... rather than me having to punch the clock for endless 60+ hour weeks until I die.

I am sure others too make such decisions... that they can tolerate life "elsewhere" if they really get to have a life, not just live to work.
