Ooh, I like the idea of gas struts. My heavy large hatch could enjoy those.

As the fore cabin only have 4' headroom I go from a stooped position to open this 27" O.D. hatch with twist tighteners. I'd much prefer gas struts to aid in opening and holding it open while I work the foredeck from the hatch.
