More open water down-east, more harbors and choices for shelter in Long Island Sound.... but LIS is no picnic in a nor'easter: It's aligned ENE in the long dimension and that means ~100 miles of fetch. Also LIS in wind-against-current can be just as bad as Buzzards Bay's notorious chop.
