Your AP control head doesn't display GPS info. Doesn't even know about GPS. It only uses the heading sensor. So the heading sensor is where your error comes from.

Your CP gets heading sensor info over SeatalkNG or SeaTalk via the course computer, assuming they're interfaced.

And (guessing) your CP is set to use heading sensor for COG display instead of GPS COG? Check your CP setup for screens.
