like some kind of sailing pack rat, I didn't throw away the old blocks... I recall that they are riveted across metal straps that hold the blocks together... but maybe there is a way to remove the inner sheeve and replace it, thus putting these older fiddle blocks (and similar turning blocks) back into service.

I've just been replacing hardware where it seems to become unserviceable.
