still suggest that you short the wires together to see if it kills the engine. If it doesn't, it isn't making up the ground so trace it back to where the switch should be grounded. I still believe it not getting a good ground. What are the chances of a second bad switc? Not much but possible. IMHO, it's either the new switch or the bad ground. Next, I would put a meter on the wires and check the continuity of the wires. You might also have an open where the lug connects to the wire. Again, sorry I didn't read your post in it's entirety.
