I'm planning a trip to Bermuda from New England. I don't have SSB or a Satellite phone. I am interested being able to get email and obtaining weather information along with gulf stream data. After the trip, I'm not likely to do more offshore sailing, maybe once every few years.

Would you buy a SSB system or rent a satellite phone system?
