Battery tester info please (link) (pic)

During our cruising we had a few problems with our house battery bank. I have and rely on my Link 10 that works very good. The problem I had was when the Amp usage did not match the voltage. I did a LOT of checks and when I removed ALL battery cable connections (NONE looked bad or corroded) and cleaned them the system came back to normal operation.

I borrowed (from a power boater in the same anchorage) a load type battery tester. You know the type, the one with a big heating element in it to do a load test.

What I am looking for is some type of tester that is smaller (remember we cruise in a Nor'Sea 27) that I can use. I have seen a number of them and am wondering if anyone has used one and have good or bad news????

Two that I see are at: http://store.lancastersupply.com/soba712voeld.html or the one at: http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_200355922_200355922

I am NOT hard over on these, they just fall into a nice price point.

Any ideas or advice?

Greg
