Why care about oxidation in non-skid?
Because the oxidation will eventually cause 'micro-cracks' ... and thats the end of the non-skid.

Deterioration from exposure to the sun
I'm not sure "intuitively" counts for anything in this issue.
I'm not suggesting just cracking as a concern -- rather that the deterioration of the gelcoat might be greate w non skid (nm)
Frankly, never seen it. That's why I'da liked to see a source....
