Ultra High Molecular Weight polyethylene vs. Delrin. Evans' issue with the water absorbtion characteristics had to do with expansion when saturated with constant water.

I'm not sure about the "slipperyness" of the UHMW compared to similar delrin piece -- but if it's fabricated properly. I guess it works for Evans ;^)
