My system has a switch independant

of the alarm. It works fine. We only turn on the propane when the stove is on. The switch is in a visible location next to the stove and is just part of the cooking routine. Our stove has thermocouples as a secondary line of defence. We do have a sniffer but it's job is only to warn of a leak. Those sniffers seem pretty delicate and I really don't trust mine to do the job when needed. Gas off until needed seems better. Cheers, David
