I have used a bathroom f*rt fan timer in line with my propane solenoid for years.

I used a 1 hour mechanical timer after many times in bed or at home and wondering "did I turn off the propane?" Perhaps others are capable of remembering to check ever time the stove is used to turn off but for me the timer is low tech cheap and easy piece of mind. It is placed ahead of normal LP control unit and I turn it 1/4 turn for boiling water or full turn when making full meal deal.
