it's Point Arguello that will kick your butt. Hug the coast between Pt Conception and Arguello for a counter current but if there is a large swell rinning then watch out for the wave rebound off of the beach. The conventional wisdom is to anchor at Cojo, up anchor and round Conception at first light or just before. "I did my own thing" once and left Santa Barbara in the morning and it was flat calm at Conception so we decided to just keep going. What a huge mistake! We got to Arguello around sundown and a large swell was running which hadn't been mentioned on "Sail Flow" which was the only site we looked at that day. Boy did we get it handed to us! Look at the buoy reports at the points as well as the wind. We got lazy and it cost us big time. Other then that, it was a great trip. Good Luck
