The whole point is to have teh AIS transmissions 
In Response To: Another Option ()
We ahve ahd an AIS receiver for 3 years, and like it a lot. There are several on the market
However, adding transmit is a considerable boost to safety, (and can be fun too, if you wnat your friends to find you)
