or thereabouts every year, and I'm maybe 1/4 to 1/2 mile off the coast the entire way, that way there is a slight counter-current or eddy, sometimes in your favor .5 to 1 knot, but no opposing current. As you get closer to Lauderdale and Miami, there are lots of diving buoys to avoid that the commercial scuba guys have in the water, but otherwise you can be right off the beach. There are a bunch of boats on moorings off the Miami Yacht Club, just to the east off that island and south of the Venetian Causeway. Call them and see about the moorings ... (305) 358-7402.
