Those tiny little wires frayed and then disconnected on mine - while underway in the Sea of Cortez. That is when I found out I could mount the Sailomat windvane single handed while underway.
We stow the windvane on the deck when we are not expecting any long sailing trips. That way we can more easily use the swim step. The Sailomat vane mounts with a single bolt to the permanently attached mount on the transom.
