Poliglow caution

I too loved using poliglow. Took my 20+ year old boat & made it look new. This year I'm changing back to wax. The reason is that I'm in a real tight slip & I inevitably rub my port side when I return to it. I found that I could not make a good repair to the poliglow finish during the season with the boat in the water. Now the discouraging news. This spring I've spent over 50 hours trying to remove 5 years of Poliglow buildup. I used the Poliprep cleaner included in the Polyglow kit, sprayed it on and rubbed. First used a sponge, then a nylon pad, then a white scotchbrite pad & in real bad spots, magic eraser. Followed up with a buffer & Finesse-it. I've got about 90% of the Poliglow off. Unfortunately the remaining 10% is spread in patches over 100% of the hull. I could not see these patches until I applied the wax. (I'd think I was done, apply the wax, be disappointed & do it all again.) I did read on another forum that Starbrite Black Streak Remover works well removing Poliglow. I applied it to the transom & it appears to work, but I haven't waxed that surface yet.
