I wouldn't worry about breaking the aluminum plates as much as I would the welds but it does't look too bad from here...

() ... how much movement is a "little twisting action" anyway? As it looks from here, it doesn't look like it could be all that much that would affect a new rigid Boom Vang one way or an other.
Maybe I'm missing something obvious?

- If they are aluminum plate you can bend them..
- Reason you can't slip some teflon sheet in there is because the tang edges aren't parallel?
