Yes Rod -- I'd drill high at the forward-facing side of the pedestal
In Response To: pedestal wiring ()
and allow the wires to hang in a loop as you described. They would dangle when disconnected and if that's not OK with you, you could mount a small eye strap and use Velcro tie-wrap to retain them as a bundle.
