There are exceptions. Obviously every boat's history is unique.
Fresh water boats don't have as many corrosion issues.
Northern boats go on the hard and often get covered for many months each year. That's easier on the boat as long as it got properly winterized and was blocked properly (remember Dave Gibson's sad tale!).
Tropical sun's UV is tough on boats and warm salt water corrodes faster than cold.
So, a boat from the Great Lakes is likely to be in better shape than boats elsewhere. Unless it was abused, frozen, spent most of its life in the tropics, etc., etc.
