Ron, I can see that just as if I was

sitting next to the poor ice cream vendor. You paint a very precise picture. When my Red Wing went off it was like a bomb. I was anchored in Saint Thomas off the cruise ship dock far enough off that none of it landed on anyone (that I know of) but the boat was covered with fiberglass chips. My brother had the same kind of generator but with the original wood blade. When his failed he actually had wood slivers stuck in his deck. All in all, even with the blades exploding all over the anchorages I have to say that they really put out the amps! That was before voltage regulators were available. Or maybe that's the reason they were invented. The generators were a bit stone age but, hay, everything was back then. Cruising is so much easier now it almost no fun.... Well, yeah, it's still fun. More complicated but still fun.
