in round-the-buoy racing where you have a big crew and lots of help around.
If necessary, buy a new anchor that will sit in the roller.
Also cut a hole that lets the rode stay attached while it sits in the well.
I like the Wichard snap hooks, and use several, but would NEVER use one on an anchor. You need a shackle, wired agains unscrewing.
Make susre the bitter end is made fast to a strong eyebolt or similar.
You should be able to deply the anchor in seconds in an emergency.
A good system will make for happieer anchoring too, and less money in marinas or moorings.
