So the intent was not so much to depend on this for a good night's sleep, but to put some extra length on a ready to go store bought light rode. I now have 30 feet of 1/4 chain on 150 feet of 3/4 three strand, for a quick hand over hand set up.

It worked fine.

As far as the regular rode, I will order that as one piece, in the length I want. What I am debating with myself now is the swivel... I have seen loads of discussions here, which make me wonder about swivels in the first place.
