On our Pearson 35, on a quiet morning getting ready for breakfast with my wife and kids, when our stove wouldn't light, then started pumping alcohol into the stove's pan -- poof and suddenly we had bunch of blue flames starting to grow.
Then, I tried a little water -- which works with a little alcohol, but not with a lot -- THEN I let go with a fire extinguisher. What a mess, but it did put-out the fire :^).
I've heard of a lot more fires from alcohol stoves than propane ones. And I don't thint that it's not the equivalent of the old joke that "no one ever complains that their emergency parachute didn't open" ;^)
