Why are image stabilised binocs so expensive?

Low cost cameras have pretty decent stabilisaiton.
My fairly high end Nikon zoom lens with image stabilisaton cost less than $700
When I look through the viewfinder in my $250 canon camera with imae stabilisation turned on, the impovement over non stabilised is significant.
So why do stabilised binocs cost so much?
