I would go with an AVON. I have been dealing
In Response To: Here's another twist then. ()

with Avon North America for three years on a warranty issue and they have been great. I bought an aluminum floor RIB three years ago and the hull cracked while I was in Mexico. They sent me 500 dollars to have it repaired and told me that they would give me a new boat once I got somewhere I could exchange it. I sailed back to Calif the next season on an unrelated issue and they replaced the boat with the same model. 6 months later I was back in Mexico and it cracked in the same place as the original one. They sent me another 500 bucks to have it fixed and told me again that they would replace it as soon as I got to some place where it could be done. Once again, I decided to sail back to Calif. (pregnant kids) and they are in the process of getting me a new boat. This time it will be a fiberglass hull model. That's pretty good customer service and IMHO, that counts. The original and the replacement boats were shit but I believe it was just that model. I've had Avons for over 30 years with only a Caribe tossed in because it was given to me and always had fine service out of them. We'll head back down next season and the new boat should do just fine. I'll have some "chaps" made for it while passing through Mazatlan or PV because they really help with the tropical sun damage and prolong the life of any boat. I highly suggest that anyone heading south do the same.
