I still use wire spliced to rope halyards and they last. My 2002 main halyard is now showing enough wear that I will replace it - after enough sea miles to classify as a circumnavigation..

Wire standing rigging will last a lot longer than dyneema and is probably a lot cheaper. Unless you are racing is it really worth it?
