I filled my water tank in April, when I moved aboard. The water pump ran and ran, but could pull no water.
My 46' boat has a combination of copper pipes and rubber hoses running from the tank, where ever that might be, to the pump and then to three heads with showers and the galley. The first job was to find the water tank, which took some work following the lines from the pump forward, through bulkheads, under berths, and finally under the floor, where I finally found the tank. There was no way to check the entire line for leaks since some of the line was inaccessible, so I simply replaced it. The rubber hose parts were replaced with new water hose and I reused the copper pipes where I could. I also replaced the strainer, since the old one was yucky, and the pump itself.
After all that, I had water to the pump but now I had leaks. Everywhere, and I mean everywhere. The rubber hoses had all dried out and became brittle, so it was a process of following lines and replacing hoses. I also replaced two of the faucets that had corroded. After many hours of work, and getting drenched twice as hoses blew off copper pipes when the system pressure up, it was leak free.
Based on my experience, I'd say buy yourself some new water hose and simply replace what's there.
