The lineage of the Navy 44

The boats the Naval Academy are building/have built are replacing a McCurdy and Rhodes designed 44' sail boat. The first boats were a Bill Luders design built in wood after WWII. They were retired in the '60s for a fiberglass version of the same boat. These were replaced in the '80s by the McCurdy and Rhodes boats. The 4th iteration of the Navy 44 are the Pedrick designed boats that have recently been put into service. Believe Tillotson Pearson are responsible for building both the McCurdy and Rhodes and Pedrick boats.
