I always advocate supporting the local folks, as long as the price is within reason, and for me Mack is "local", my boat goes in and out of Vero, FLA. And, if saving 10% means buying your sails that are made in China or Indonesia, which many of the "local" and larger lofts do ... I won't do it. I'll pay the premium to buy sails made here, even though there probably is no difference in the quality. My Main (4 full batten) and Genoa made by Mack 6-7 years ago still like new, I don't think either has been in for any service, but, I also take excellent care of my sails, they are never stored folded, only rolled, on the boat half the year, the other half inside a house with AC, and I wash them every year. I also try never, ever to let my sails flog, and I never leave my Main uncovered exposed to UV. I do have a strong Track which I also got from Mack, that is very nice.
