I agree with Brian, with that short a change interval just use the cheap oil...
Incidentally, the oil is going to be black in pretty much any diesel after 5-10 hours.

My old Cumins 5.9 B is the same way but
My Volvo Penta MD22P also keeps the oil clear for at least 50 hours
