Hi Mark,
It’s getting out to the boat that is a bit more of a problem… (grin)
I’m afraid I’m not going anywhere soon… This was a very impressive storm, worst blizzard I’ve ever seen here, I think… We’ve had a higher total snowfall in the past, but never coupled with this much wind. I reckon we has somewhere around 28-30 inches right here, the most intense snow bands I saw on the radar loop last night remained parked pretty much on top of my area…
The problem now will be the water level in the bay, a stiff NW breeze will continue to blow for a couple more days, and that will likely blow the water out of here… So, looks like I’m probably gonna miss a good sailing window on Wednesday and Thursday, I doubt I’ll be able to get out of here by then…
Another problem could be the bridges between me and the ocean… Spoke to the bridge operator today south of me, and he reckoned he’d probably not be able to open as things stand now…
Good news is that the temps are forecast to moderate this week, so the ice shouldn’t be a problem – I could probably still get out now if I really had to… But of course, by the end of the week, the winds are forecast to come up out of the SW, never fails… (grin) Looking like another strong cold front after New Year’s, perhaps that one will be my ticket to ride…
Best regards,
Jon
